When you learn the title above, you might think about adventure in Love. But it's not at all
Since 2006 I lived in France, I never have any "Undefinite Duration Contract" but I set up my mind to have this as goal. Since then my adventure begins....
Looking for a job in France isn't so easy, especially I have no French Diploma nor French working experience. Though I would do anykind of job, except housekeeping or nanny.
So I started to be an illegal vegetable sellers in the market once a week with 60€ pay. At the market I meet an old man who proposed my CV to local airport when he found out that I speak fluent English and heard that the airport need personnel who speaks English for their first International Flights. And I work there with Interim Contact as Shop Manager, a very interesting job as I have to the sales, development & accounting of 'my small shop'
The project was 6 months per year & I work 2 seasons there. Unfortunately there is a breakdown contract between Airport & the Irish Airline Company, so I have to loose the job I love. While working I also attended French Driving School that cost me about 1600€ as I was obliged to pass twice writing exam & twice practice. Driving Licence is essential to find a job here as well as speaking fluent French. During 6 months a year, when I don't work at the airport, I work part time as hostess at expo or doing translation job and even auto entrepreneur selling fashion products from Asia. Sometimes I still help doing fruit sellers too.
One day on 2008 I read from local National Employment Agency there is a shop need cashier for their garage sale. I applied and it happened to be a big Perfumery with its 5 branches all over my region ! I was so happy working with this family company, as my bosses are father, son & daughters who like me very much. But unfortunately, again, I have no French Estethician Diploma though I have the Chinese one which is not valid here, and because of the economic crisis, my boss couldn't hire me as full time employee. So, I work each time they needed me for doing cashier or inventory. For their appreciation, they give me lots of parfumes & cosmetics and even send me for training in the French famous parfum producer. But still I don't get my "Undefinited Contract"
In 2010 I also join a program of National Employment Agency to discuss about my work project & review my CV, learn to make application letter and preparation of interview. And then I got this opportunity to pass a Simulation Test to work for an American fastfood chain. I passed with good score, pass the interview & I worked there on October 2010 in the kitchen. First of all, everything seemed to be OK, I have no problem interact with the colleagues & manager which are mostly 15 years younger than me. I even passed the probation period with the satisfaction from my managers. But unfortunately, because of tendinitis & alergic to the chemical products, this job at the kitchen is not made for me, I tried to ask for changing post but my manager kept saying that I have to wait without any reason why. So I resigned after 5 months. Meanwhile I still do my part time cashier job at this perfumery.
April 2011 I worked as Receptionnist at the a small hotel, but my contract was broken as the owner is saying I was 'too slow' to do a polyvalent job. I tried to save my job by saying that I may work slower than everyone but I work hard & right, while the colleagues are chatting, I keep doing my job, but he said this is not they're looking for. So I have to try other job again...
In September 2011 I do another Simulation Test for Telemarketing Job. I passed the exam again with good score but I failed the interview. The reason is because I don't show enough motivation... A reason that I can't understand, cause after 5 month unemployed I really want to have a job, any kind of job...
I have done up & down in searching for job here in France. But I have to realise that looking for a job isn't easy especially for me who have no valid diploma. And I can consider myself to be lucky cause I don't look for job for living, my husband has enough retirement plan that can make a living for us. For yet, after whatever happened this year, I was desperate.
In desperation I planned to return to Indonesia for vacation on November, but unfortunately I decided to return earlier as my sister was told she was having a serious sickness. I returned on October & I got this call to do another Simulation Test for a Huge Leather products company. I attended the meeting yesterday 9 November 2011 and it gives me motivation than ever.... Undefinited Contract, good pay, work stability & prestigious. Working with my own hands & having own signature on each luxuries products you made.
I really hope that ADVENTURE will end soon...
